Manuel Antonio Surf School is the FIRST, the SAFEST, and the ONLY professional, fully-insured surf school in the Manuel Antonio/Quepos area. The idea for  M A S S came from the concern for safety of visitors coming to our beaches to surf. This, coupled with a desire to put years of surfing experience to use by properly, safely, and effectively teaching others, gave way to M A S S opening its doors in 2004.  The founders were a tour and rafting guide, born to surf and with many years of industry experience, and his close acquaintance, a soccer lover in charge of a local soccer team. Together, they found a suitable, prominent location for an office (just outside Quepos, on the main road to Manuel Antonio). The rest is history.

After working together for a significant period, they chose to part ways. The one that stuck around to continue to develop their wonderful idea was the passionate surfer. He continued onward, designed, and had crafted some of the best surf boards in Costa Rica, including those made for  beginners using a special light weight material.  M A S S received full insurance for their personnel and students, and it is still  the only surf school in Costa Rica to be insured 100% by INS (Instituto Nacional de Seguros).

Today, M A S S continues to operate on a daily basis, with each day bringing new students and friends. We have taught thousands of children and adults, of all ages and nationalities, to ride the waves. Why not take the first step! At  M A S S, we strive for absolute quality service and 100% safety, at all levels (transportation, equipment, instructors, and more). We are often rewarded with students returning for second, third, and future classes. The greatest compliment  for us is to see our students gain the necessary confidence and skills to begin a lifetime of surfing.

We are also extremely concerned about our local environment. For this reason,  M A S S has started a number of local programs and  operates the following: daily beach cleaning, public life guard service, educating locals on environmental issues.
